OVERVIEW:
On August 2nd Deep Space, opens their first weekly Monday night soiree of the month with the aptly named Cosmo as Francois Kās special guest. Colleen Murphy is the true definition of a multi-tasker - DJ, broadcaster, producer, remixer, record label mogul and party hostess who doesnāt know how to play safe. Her Bitches Brew label (named after the difficult Miles Davis album that fused rock and jazz) is the epitome of cool, while DarkStarr (her psychedelic disco pairing with Xpress-2ās Ashley Beedle) has just picked up even wider acclaim for their restyling of the Candi Staton-sung Mavis single āRevolutionā; her imprint recently issued it too! In fact Cosmoās hands, including her outfit Wild Rumpus with former Beefheart axe-man Gary Lucas, and the Latin-tinged act BambĆŗ with Ben Mitchell and Billie Godfrey of Sao Benitez and Mr. Hermano, have touched most of the productions on Bitches Brew. While as a DJ the South Londoner spans the musical spectrum: from house, soul and disco to Afrobeat, dub and psychedelic rock, while always pushing the boundaries in between. In other words, the perfect Deep Space guest!
